CHARACTERS Huckleberry Finn- Huck is very practical. He lives with Widow Douglas because his father is never around. He is very interested in the "now", and not the past. When he begins to learn about moses he is intrigued at first but once he realizes that moses is dead he is no longer interested. Tom Sawyer-Tom was raised well, taught to follows the rules, often tries to make a joke out of a serious situation, hinds the fact that Miss Watson is dead from Jim and that he is now a free man.
Widow Douglas and Miss Watson-Widow Douglas is the widow that Huck lives with. She is very religious. Huck is content with Widow Douglas but not with Miss Watson, her "evil" sister. Miss Watson talks about heaven so much that Huck says he dosn't want to go if she's going to be there.
Jim-Slave of Miss Watson, huck's friend. He is an African American that escaped from slavery trying to gain his freedom back.
Pap- Hucks father that is never around. Him and Huck don't have a good relationship. The only reason Pap is around is because he wants hucks money.
Judge Thatcher- Huck sells Judge Thatcher his 6,000 dollars for 1 dollar in order to keep Pap away from it. He has to sell it for a dollar for it to legally become Judge Thatchers money.
The Grangerfords-Family that takes in Huck after a steamboat hits his raft, they at first feel threaten that he may be a Sheperdson, but then they allow him in, they have a family fued going on between the Sheperdsons.
The Duke and the Dauphin-Pair of conmen who Huck and Jim rescue, they scam many people in different ways while on their venture with Huck and Jim.
The Wilks Family- This is a very wealthy family, they encounter the death of one of their family memebers, and meet the duke and the dauphin, who give the 2 men enough information to con everyone into believe that they are his 2 brothers from england that are to inherit most of his money. Mary Jane, one of the girls ends up having a slight romantic relationship with Huck.
Silas and Sally Phelps- Relatives of Tom Sawyer that are very happy to see "Tom" or huck in disguise. They are good natured southern people that have lots of children. They are also very honest and have big hearts.
Aunt Polly:Tom's aunt, sally's sister, comes in at the end of the book and identifies Tom and Huck for who they really are, Huck is pretending to be Tom, and Tom is pretending to be his kid brother Sid. A kinda women. Tries to influence Tom as best as she can.
